2. The Data We Collect About You

Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. We may collect, use, store, and transfer different kinds of personal data about you:

  • Identity Data: first name, last name, title, date of birth, and copies of your driving licence or passport, often required for test drives, identity verification, and finance applications.
  • Contact Data: billing address, delivery address, email address, and telephone numbers.
  • Financial Data: bank account details, payment card details, and information required by third-party finance brokers to process vehicle finance.
  • Transaction Data: details about payments to and from you and other details of vehicles or services you have purchased from us.
  • Vehicle Data: current vehicle details, registration numbers, mileage, and service history, especially for part-exchanges.

3. How Is Your Personal Data Collected?

We use different methods to collect data from and about you, including through:

  • Direct interactions: you may give us your Identity, Contact, and Financial Data by corresponding with us by post, phone, email, or in person during your scheduled appointment. This includes when you book a viewing, request a test drive, purchase or sell a vehicle, apply for vehicle finance, or request marketing or information.
  • Third parties or publicly available sources: we may receive personal data from finance brokers, vehicle history check providers such as HPI checks, or the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).

4. How We Use Your Personal Data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we use it for:

  • Performance of a Contract: where we need to perform a contract we are about to enter into or have entered into with you, such as selling you a car.
  • Legitimate Interests: where necessary for our legitimate interests, or those of a third party, and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests, such as managing viewing appointments and premises security.
  • Legal Obligation: where we need to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation, such as checking driving licences, anti-money laundering checks, or DVLA registrations.
